To achieve our mission, the Board of Education has adopted the following competencies as the basis of what we expect our students to know and be able to do when they have graduated from Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD).
Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs)
ESLRs to be measured by report card grades
- Demonstrated knowledge of key concepts, principles, processes, facts, and skills in the disciplines of:
- Language Arts
- History/Social Science
- Mathematics
- Science
- Physical Education
- Visual and Performing Arts
- Foreign Language
- Career/Vocational Education
- Health/Practical Living Skills
ESLRs to be measured by rubrics
- Effective communication through listening, speaking, and writing
- Strong research skills
- Ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines
- Reading with understanding
- Critical and creative thinking to solve problems
- Effective use of technology
Personal Qualities
PAUSD will strive to support students academically and socially to assure that all students develop the following personal qualities:
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Concern and respect for others
- Appreciation of the contributions of diverse cultures, groups, and individuals
- Social and environmental responsibility
- Aesthetic awareness and appreciation
