Skill Competencies for Instructional Staff
Through staff development, PAUSD helps each teacher acquire the following technology skills and knowledge of:
- Basic computer hardware and software terminology
- Basic production tools for word processing and presentations
- Email communication and organization
- Regular use of online instructional resources
- Use of electronic research tools
- Administrative abilities such as student progress reports, class records, and newsletters
- Skill with peripheral technologies like cameras and scanners
- Integrate curricular content with the best technological resources available to support, manage, and enhance learning
- Legal and ethical issues involved in network use for selves/students
- Identification of authenticity, reliability, and bias on the Internet
- SASI skills to input student data and to aggregate data about current classes
- Simple troubleshooting and HelpDesk access
- Knowledge of staff and student use agreement contracts

California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP) has resources to assist California teachers integrate technology into the classroom.
CTAP² Teacher Rubric CTAP² is an online, self-assessment tool for educators who use or want to use technology in the classroom. The rubric in CTAP² is based on the Training Guidelines developed by the State CTAP Technology Proficiency Committee.
