PTA – Parent Teacher Associations
Each school in PAUSD has its own PTA. The PTA is a volunteer group
of parents, teachers and community members who support students
and teachers in classroom activities and manage school events, services,
and communications. Contact your school's PTA representative for
more information about meetings and activities.
Palo Alto Council
of PTAs posts information about PTA programs, upcoming events,
and other resources.
Art Docents
Do you love art? Do you like working with children? Our ever-popular Meet the Masters Art Heritage Program needs your help. We have designed hands-on lessons for grades K - 5. Teach about the lives of famous artists along with these easy, step-by-step lessons in elementary school classrooms.

Science Resource Center
Our Science Resource Center needs your help. You don't need a science background to provide valuable service to our teachers and students. Volunteers help us offer excellent service and reduce costs. We are happy to accommodate your schedule-you can work regularly or periodically for large or small amounts of time.
If you are interested in volunteering, contact Mary Childress at (650) 565-8437 or mchildress@pausd.org.
Youth Community Service
Youth Community Service (YCS), in partnership with Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD), supports service-learning and community service clubs in middle and high schools throughout the Palo Alto and Ravenswood School Districts. YCS has opportunities for parents, students, members of the community, and teachers.
- Be a YCS club leader
- Be your school PTA Community Service Representative
- Start your own service project—apply for a grant
- Join your county Volunteer Center
For more information about how to get involved, visit the Youth Community Service Web site.
Tuberculosis Screening for Volunteers
Adult volunteers in public schools must be screened every four years for possible exposure to tuberculosis. X-rays and intradermal injections are the only tests accepted. Tine/patch tests are not. Volunteers may take intradermal tests free of charge at PAUSD school offices. Contact the school where you are volunteering for information about testing dates and scheduling appointments.
