On June 3, 2008, voters in the Palo Alto Unified School District approved a $378 million bond issue(Strong Schools Bond). The percentage of YES votes was 77.59%.
The bond will allow the District to begin the implementation of the Long Range Facilities Master Plan that was presented to the board in April 2007.

In accordance with Proposition 39, the District's Board of Trustees appointed seven members of the community to serve on the Citizenís Oversight Committee. This committee will monitor Strong Schools Bond expenditures to ensure that all bond funds are spent exactly as promised to ensure taxpayer safeguards and confidence.
